Welcome to Gems of the Hill Country.
We are a group of proud native Texans celebrating our home. We create gems and jewelry made from Texas gem materials- especially topaz, our state gem. Texas topaz is found only in Mason, Texas, and was designated the state gem in 1969. Come visit us across from the historic Thomas Moore Hardware store in Ingram on the Hunt Highway 39, and find a bit of Texas to wear every day. If the drive is a bit much, feel free to call, Email, or order straight off this site. If you do not find the perfect gem, let us custom cut one for you.
Here are a few of the things we make!
Rocky Hamilton cut these Mason County clear Topaz in the State Star Cut they weigh 4.69twct. and is mounted in Sterling Silver Star Head Dangle Earrings.
9.13 ct of Mason County Blue Topaz square cut by Diane and set in a sterling silver ring. My bad- this ring did not sell this Christmas, and I showed it to everybody, so as we closed our store on Christmas Eve, I asked Brad to size the ring for me, and I kept it. Sorry, too cool, I had to keep it. I'll be glad to cut another square star topaz for you- there are several on my faceting machine right now. Diane
Tom Zayco Cut this Mason County Blue Topaz in the State Star Cut it weighs in at 3.79 ct. and is mounted in Sterling Silver Ring with a Star Head.
Rocky Hamilton cut this Mason County clear Topaz in the State Star Cut it weighs in at 1.16 ct. and is mounted in Sterling Silver Ring.
This is one of those stones Swiss Blue like a summer sky, it is a pear shaped irradiated and heat treated set into a silver pendant.
You’ve made it to Mason, maybe even did some rockhounding, and you’re standing on the Mason courthouse square- and Gems of the Hill Country is not there. Maybe you only now realize that your favorite source for Texas topaz jewelry is not here. Never fear- we’ve got you covered. Just northwest of the courthouse square, on 87, is Mason Resale Barn. There’s a showcase by the cash register, and there you will find some of our special gems. Later, when you make another trip to the Hill Country, come see us in Ingram.
We would like to thank Diane Ferrell and Anne Schneider for the article in Kerr County People, y'all did such a good job!
I have added a tab for the Texas Cutters Collection on the top menu, this is a fabulous collection of Texas topaz cut by Texans.
